6 Steps To Backing Your First Kickstarter

We’ve just launched our backpack project on Kickstarter, and our first question was … “what’s a pledge?.

For our first timers, here’s a guide to backing your first Kickstarter Project!

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform bringing pre-release ideas and products to market.

Many a product (and brand) — from socks (Nice Laundry) to bags (Peak Design), camera gear (Moment) to Watches (Linjer) started on crowdfunders like Kickstarter; it’s a valuable resource for brands to…“kickstart” their journey.

How It Works

Kickstarter is donation (pledge) based.

During the 30–60 day campaign, backers chooses a pledge amount matching a specific reward set by us. The reward —hard products, virtual high fives etc — are delivered after the campaign ends.

In return for taking a chance on unreleased product, prices are usually significantly cheaper than final retail price and / or exclusively released for backers.

Funds are collected by Kickstarter after the projects is 100% funded, otherwise no charge will be made to your credit cards. Once funding is met, production begins!

The Steps

1. Find The Page

Search “Able Carry Backpacks” and click into our campaign.

2. Get to know the Daily

Watch the video and check out the campaign — Get details from the material, to comfort, to the extra features we put.

Next to the Campaign tab, you’ll find FAQ, Updates, Comments from other backers. These are all helpful for you to make a choice.

3. Pick your reward

On the right side is the “Support” column. Pick your pledge levels! Our cheatsheet goes through the option. Use it as a guide.

If you’d like to a pledge without any rewards, that’s the first tier, but there’s no fun in that. Pick a reward!

4. Making a Pledge

Check out like you would with any E-commerce store. Kickstarter uses Stripe for payment processing — they handle payments for large online platforms like Facebook, Deliveroo, so your card detail’s safe. Kickstarter’s FAQ here.

5. Add Contact Details

If you haven’t left your details, now’s the time. We’ll need your details to fulfill the rewards later, and leaving your name or a nickname helps (rather than “Guest 1690750703").

6. SHARE with friends!

That’s it! You’ve backed your first Kickstarter Project!
